Accessing LVM Volumes from Ubuntu

After adding an Ubuntu installation on a CentOS computer’s third hard drive (/dev/sdc), I wanted to access the CentOS LVM (Logical Volume Manager) volume made up of /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. I discovered that Ubuntu doesn’t seem to use LVM by default. Here is what I did on Ubuntu:

  1. sudo apt-get install lvm2
  2. Find the LVM volume name that I use on CentOS by entering the command “sudo lvdisplay”
  3. sudo vgchange -ay
  4. sudo mkdir /usr2
  5. sudo mount /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 /usr2

Now the LVM volume is mounted at /usr2
